This illustrated map was created for D Magazine's roundup of the best barbecue joints in Dallas and Fort Worth. The style blends playful linework with warm, hand-textured digital coloring, giving every stop its own personality. I turned iconic BBQ dishes into landmarks—brisket on rooftops, ribs as signage, and a banana pudding the size of a car. Some pitmasters even got their own mini caricatures (yes, with aprons and all). The goal was to make each spot feel like a character in the story, not just a pin on the map. It’s equal parts food crawl and fever dream, in the best way.
