Mackenzie and Jonathan Adler painting
This piece was a custom painting I made to match my client’s home, which has this gorgeous mix of MacKenzie-Childs’ whimsical charm and Jonathan Adler’s bold, sculptural style. I wanted the painting to feel like it belonged in that world—something playful and elevated at the same time. The copper butterflies were painted to look just like the ones on MacKenzie-Childs’ sculptures—layered with detail, texture, and a bit of shine to give them that sculpted, dimensional feel, even though it’s all paint. The signature MacKenzie checkerboard is woven into the piece to ground it in that iconic visual language, while the clean circular forms nod to Adler’s love of geometry and bold structure. It’s this mashup of abstract and representational, where decor and fine art meet. I loved every part of bringing it to life. The result is a piece that doesn’t just decorate a room—it belongs to it.
